Welcome to What Shama Reads: The Blog. I’m Shama and I’m so glad you’re here 💛
I’ve wanted to create a little reading corner online for the longest time. Somewhere cosy and honest – a place that feels like sliding under a soft blanket after a long day. That’s how reading feels to me and that’s exactly what I hope What Shama Reads becomes for you too.
Why I Created This Blog.
As a corporate-working mum of three, life moves fast – messy mornings, meetings, school runs, deadlines and dinner decisions. I love it all but I also crave quiet sometimes. Not silence, exactly, but stillness. The kind that only comes when I open a book and let the world fall away.
Reading has always been my escape, my reset button and my most reliable source of joy. It’s where I make sense of things and where I remember who I am beneath the noise. Over the years, I realised I wasn’t just reading books – I was collecting moments, emotions and stories that stayed with me long after I closed the last page.
This blog is my way of capturing those moments. A reading journal, but shared. A space for real reflections, honest opinions and the occasional chaotic mum-life book confession (because yes, sometimes I fall asleep mid-chapter) 😅
Why I Started a Bookstagram Too.
Alongside this blog, I’ve started a Bookstagram because I love how bookish corners of the internet bring people together. There’s something magical about connecting with someone across the world simply because you felt the same thing after reading the same sentence.
Instagram lets me share my quick thoughts but here on the blog, you’ll find the deeper reflections that don’t fit neatly in a caption.
Together, they’re two sides of the same story: the fast flick-through moments and the slow, savoured ones.

What You’ll Find Here.
✨ Thoughtful reviews (always honest, always chill)
✨ Reading reflections from a mum juggling corporate life
✨ Alllll the book recommendations
✨ Stories that stick with me and hopefully you too
✨ A gentle space for anyone who loves books, quiet moments and finding themselves in-between the pages
Whether you’re a fellow tired-but-thriving parent, a weekend reader, or someone rediscovering their love of stories, I hope this becomes a corner you return to whenever you need a little calm.
Thanks for being here. Truly.
Here’s to finding quiet in the chapters of life, one book at a time 💫
